Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences

 

Foundation:

In 1405 AH, the Department of Medical Sciences was established within the Faculty of Applied Sciences. Later on, this department was turned into the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences per a royal decree in 1417 AH. In 1419 AH, the faculty started to grant admission to female students (in compliance with the guidelines of His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince `Abdullah ibn `Abdul-`Aziz, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Commander of the National Guard, who gave the order of granting admission to female students with the start of the academic year 1419/1420 AH during the inauguration ceremony of the university campus, which was honored by his presence in 23/2/1419 AH). That year witnessed the admission of fifty female students; twenty-seven of whom joined the program of "Medicine and Surgery" and the rest joined the program of "Medical Sciences".

 

Every year witnesses an increased number of students. At the end of the academic year 1422/1423 AH, the faculty held the graduation ceremony of the first class of "Medical Sciences" Program.
