Information Technology and Technical Support Center
This center was established in 1980 under the name of the Information and Computer Center, to serve the different university units in the process of using the computer and modern technology in the development of work methods and programs in the university.
Objectives of the Center: 1- Training and scientific research. 2- Assistance of the university units and administrations in the use of computer technology in their work. 3- Designing and building of communication networks to link the computer center with the national centers. 4- Technical supervision of computer activities in the university. 5- Contribution to the development of computer knowledge in the society. 6- Cooperation with other centers. 7- Preparation of the annual report of the university. 8- Preparation of statistical books on higher education. 9- Updating the data base on the teaching load of the members of staff and all other types of information that relate to them. 10- Preparation and issuing of the academic guide for newly admitted students.
Planning and Information: Due to the belief of the Information Technology and University Development Center in the importance of statistics in planning, a number of databases were built, such as the following:
1-Employees database: This database includes most of the information on the university employees, including personal information. Educational qualifications, positions they occupy, and training courses they have attended.
2- The teaching staff database: This database includes most of the information on the university staff members, including personal information. Educational qualifications, academic positions, and teaching loads un each semester.
3- Training courses database: This database includes all the training courses and programs that are needed by the employees of the university according to the general groups of positions described in the sixth chapter of the Categories of Governmental Posts in the Civil Service, issued by the Ministry of Civil Service in 1414. 4- The database on the training courses presented by the Institute of Public Administration: This database includes the training courses and programs that are provided by the Institute in its different branches. This database is used for planning the strategies that aim at helping the university's employees to enroll in the programs that suit the nature of their work.
5. The students' database: This database includes the numbers of male and female students who have joined the university since 1984 to-date. It is used in building models to predict the numbers of students who will be admitted in the coming years according to the actual needs of the society and the resources of the university. It therefore helps in building sound admission strategies.
6. The academic programs database: This database consists of all the academic programs in the university according to the academic plans of the different departments. The Center uses this information in writing the students' academic guide.
Training and development: In service training is one of the most important methods that are currently used to improve employees' performance. That is why it is given a special attention by the Center for the best manpower performance.
