Department of Accounting Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Last Prophet, The Department of Accounting was established in 1405 AH as a branch of the Department of Islamic Economy, for graduating national cadres that are specialized in accounting fields and are aware of the Islamic economic system. The number of enrollees has been increasing year after year until it exceeded the number of enrollees in the whole Department of Islamic Economy. The Department of Accounting continued to be a branch of the Department of Islamic Economy for 16 years (1405-1420 AH). Then it became an independent department at the beginning of the first semester of the academic year 1421/1422 AH.
The department's course plan has been modified several times. As the case in other departments, it adopted the credit hour system (course plan I 1405 AH, course plan II 1412 AH). Then, by virtue of a royal decree, the credit hour system has been changed into the day system (course plan III 1418/1419 AH). Moreover, the course plan IV 1425 AH, so far applicable, has been modified to cope with the developments in fields of specialization and meet the requirements of development plans and the needs of labor market. In addition, graduates of the department of accounting work in various accounting fields at both public and private sector institutions. Currently, there is a growing demand for qualified accounting graduates to meet the needs of development plans and the labor market. As a result, the number of the department's enrollees has exceeded 700. Because graduates encounter some career obstacles as the department is affiliated to the College of Shari'ah and Islamic Studies, earnest strides has been currently taken to establish an independent college under the name of "college of Administrative Sciences".
Establishment The Department of Accounting was established in 1405 AH as a branch of the Department of Islamic Economy to graduate specialized cadres and fulfill the country's needs of accountants who are remarkable for Islamic accounting thought. The number of enrollees has been increasing year after year. At the beginning of 1421 AH, the department of civilization and Islamic systems was merged with the department of history. Hence, the branch of accounting was separated from the department of Islamic Economy and became a separate department on its own. The current number of students at the department of accounting has exceeded 700, as only male students are admitted into the department. The course plan has been modified several times to cope with developments in accounting sciences. Therefore, the latest course plan (of 1425 AH requires the successful fulfillment of 147 credit hours in eight levels, each ranging from 17 to 19 credit hours, as shown by the accredited and currently applicable course plan for obtaining the bachelor's degree in accounting.
